Territory Wars are something included in 4Story, and are quite interesting.
The idea behind it is that there are 3 (previously 2 until a couple weeks ago) Kingdoms in the world, and they are in constant battle for lands.
Every character is automatically assigned to a kingdom, and spends the first little while leveling up and learning the game around the noob area/village of that kingdom. It is possible to go into another kingdom’s territory, but you may get killed there. Everyday at a set time the Territory Wars begin.
Players can get involved individually, but teamwork is best, and it seems that this is really what the guilds are used for in this game. You can either defend a territory your kingdom already controls, or you can attack a rival one. This is done by first defeating the gate keepers, and then a boss dragon. Which ever faction defeats the dragon for that region first wins it. At the end of the War, the territories are redistributed based on who controls them. This can open up new quests, items, and all that fun stuff. It also keeps the game dynamic in a way.
On a forum I found, one player introduces this in their own way:
“This is one of my favorite parts about 4story. The nation vs nation wars of territory wars and sacred wars are a great way to figure out how to play your class and how to play it around other players. I like it a lot because the emphasis is on teamwork, and also because it is one of the only challenges in the game hehe. If you have never gone to territory wars (TW for short), you really should give it a shot. You can fight as an individual, but in order to take a territory and to be more effective, you need to be in a guild. If you work during TW or it is at a bad time (like 4am), there is hope! I have sent in another 1:1 about group duels and they say that it should be coming out in the next update! Though it will not be the same as attending TW, it will give you an opportunity to have large scale PvP action. PvP gives you an opportunity to test and refine your skill as a player and can give you a sense of victory (or in rare many cases…defeat ). The nice part is, if you do experience defeat, you can get back up and try again, learning from each experience until you can find the victory you were looking for. A good feeling
”
I don’t think I could really express it better. I think that this concept should catch on, and be added into MMOs, however I also think that the Wars should be against other players in a sort of sudden death (one life per war, once dead you return to the regular game) rather than to reach a certain goal. It would certainly be more fun with all the other people in the world.
