Over the past months I’ve been working on my class project I have experimented with a number of games. It seems that games have varying degrees of standardized introductions. Most of my experience is with WOW which is really broad in its instructions. Wow has a server that is set aside for new players. This is not the server I started on because I had friends on another server who could offer me more assistance than that of the game. In WOW you introduction consist of a film of your avatars story line. Once your avatar appears in your starting area you then are directed to do various quests. Quests for beginning avatars are the bases for learning how the game works.
In comparison games like City of Heroes have a similar quest objective in there beginning but it is more focused with no varying quests. The beginning quest makes getting to your characters powers easier but it can get frustrating when an objective becomes not clear.
Both games seem to follow the same parameters but they both have their own take on how to go about it.
