As I was looking for a new game to play besides WoW I started looking at the top ten list of MMORPGs from around the net. So obviously I came across many different opinions out there as to what game is the best and whether PvP is better than PvE but in the end it really comes down to your own personal preference. First, I have compiled a list of 3 top MMO games that I think are really good.

1) World of Warcraft – got me into the MMO scene and really taught me a lot about the game environment, interactions, and just plain leveling up in a MMO environment.

2) Runes of Magic – being a student on a strict budget, a free MMO is an obvious choice for any former WoW player looking to take out frustration in the virtual world.

3) Age of Conan – being a sucker for epic adventures and maybe a bit of a ancient history freak, this game managed to excite me in every way possible… well not every. It’s an epic story, the PvP is amazing and the story line and graphics are really strong and amazing.

So that’s my compilation of Top Ten MMORPGs list from around the net. I have not personally played all of the games on the lists and will probably not get a chance to play all of them either but those of you that have played them maybe they can comment further and elaborate them.

The Guild Season 4 Spoiler Alert

In season 4 of The Guild, Vork creates a competition to raise money for a Guild Hall. In order to raise funds to promote his design, he begins to invest in the market at the Trading house and eventually corners it. After watching this episode, I became intrigued by the idea and began searching the net to finding out whether something like this would be possible. I eventually stumbled across this blog post which provides a how to guide to cornering the market in Second Life.

After reading this post I began to wonder whether this technique would work in the game I am playing, Runes of Magic. The main thing holding me back from attempting something like this is the fact that I am not knowledgeable with the Runes of Magic economy. Also, in order to start a scheme like this, I would require a large amount of starting capital. Fortunately I can turn to the illegal gold sellers. For $150, I can purchase 50 million in game gold. If I was able to invest in this market, perhaps I could sell the gold I made from cornering the market for real money (become a gold seller) and then live off these virtual earnings in the real world. I could become the Gordon Gecko of MMOG’s. This is all easier said than done however. The fact that gold selling is banned by the developers suggests that Runes of Magic is not the optimal medium for this type of venture. Perhaps a switch to second life would give me a chance to try this out.

If there is one thing I have still yet to master in World of Warcraft, it is the language used in the chat interface. No not english, I am talking about the abbreviated language all WoW players seem to posses. Now like most of you reading this blog and being on the internet in general, you must possess enough internet skills to understand lol and brb, but the advanced abbreviation language present in WoW still has me stunned.

When thinking of blog posts I knew I wanted to discuss this abbreviation language, yet I had no idea where to begin as I was still learning the language myself. So, as does any person with access to the internet, I punched in “abbreviations in WoW” into Google. The link posted below lead me to another blog post discussing the mysterious language. The post starts off with a question from a WoW player who confesses their confusion with the abbreviations.

Being a totally new player of MMOGs entering this class, I only had msn and text knowledge of abbreviated phrases and words. It wasn’t until this class that I learned what afk meant. Thankfully due to this post I found, all of the abbreviated words I need to know. . . for now. Now I know what it’s like to learn a new language.

So if my translation is correct (according to the post). . . AFAIK I am a n00b, and IKC if you are LF a tank or LFG. ATM I am AFK BTW to fulfill my BIO so STFU.

In the virtual worlds that I have experienced, personally (WoW, Runescape and Second Life), I’ve found it quite difficult to figure out who my character is, what it does and what exactly I’m supposed to be doing. Although there are tutorials like in Runescape and Second Life, I don’t always find them to be the most helpful, ESPECIALLY Second Life. It may be that I am more of a visual learner but I just need someone to make it sink in. Describe what everything does, what I need to do and what the overall goal is. That may be why I find it convenient to have a constant chat function to ask friends questions or to have someone playing the game with me who has played before. In the case of being introduced to WoW I had my bf, a very experienced gamer, letting me know what was what and it still wasn’t until months into the game that I discovered which actions actually deal damage or heal etc. Rather than button mashing like my typical strategy. It is suffice to say that playing MMO’s involves a learning process which some are more adept.

Monster Hunter has a lots of impressive animals, beast and dragon. Some of them are small and animal-like but most of the are dragon type monster. Obviously, they have high attack and high defense and some of them can fly. The goal of hunters is to kill the monster and collect monster material to craft a better armor and weapon for next challenge. There are difference damage effect, for example: If hunter focus to hit on the dragon’s head, the horn/eyes/nose would be highly damaged and would drop rare item.

There are about 10 species of monster and  over 100 difference monster . The 10 species are:

-Herbivore, Lynian, Neopteron, Pelagus, Piscine, Carapaceon, Bird Wyvern, Beast Wyvern, Wyvern and Elder Dragon.

In the following, I will show the 5 strongest monsters under the categories of the first 5 species .

1. Herbivore – Popo

The Popo is the largest and the strongest herbivore found living in the Snowy Mountains. Hunters often hunt for their meat and tongue to make foods and potions. Although they look big and tough but they are docile and will run for life when one of their member under attack by hunters or when a Wyvern enters their inhabit area.

2. Lynian – King Shakalaka

The King Shakalaka are normal Shakalaka thatwear mask, club and has fire on the top of the mask. They are the leader of the Shakalaka and inhabit in the area Forest and Hills, they may look cute but in fact- they are tough. King Shakalaka is consider to be a semi-boss in game, they are strong and can do a large sum of damage to hunters. It is more difficult to fight them in group because the normal Shakalaka would cause distraction while the King Shakalaka will throw fire ball to hunters. King Shakalaka ‘s mask can use to craft ” Armor Sphere, Hard Armor Sphere and Royal Armor Sphere”.

3. Neopteron – Queen Vespoid

Vespoid is the strongest in the Neopteron, although they are they strongest in the Neopteron species but they are weak and nobody. However, they are hard to aim and would cause paralyze to hunter and their body parts are useful in making paralyze trap.

4. Pelagus – Golden Rajan

Golden Rajang is a minotaur-like beast with two large horns on its head, they are strong and can release electric in their body system. Unlike normal Rajang, Golden Rajang are rarely see in wild due to their lonesome style. The most notable ability is to shoot electric beam from its mouth and many hunters hate to encounter Golden Rajang due to their power, speed and aggression.

5. Piscine – Red Lavasioth

Red Lavasioth is large Piscine Wyvern , living in the volcano and  lava area and resistance of fire attack. They have hard rock scales to protect them, which means they have high defense power. They can swim in lava and would give a sudden attack, they throw fireballs and meteors, they can also jump and slam themselves on the ground to attack hunters. They also do “Sliding U turn” attack with their tails to stun hunters, they are tough and hard to kill but the Lavasioth scales, teeth and fins can be use to craft  Red Lavasioth armor which called the “Red-Volganos armor” and “Lava-long Sword”. These armor gives hunter a high defense and flame resistance, the Lava-long Sword consists high fire element attack. The are one of the hunter’s favorite.

When I see a skill scape around Runescape, I give a certain amount of respect to the one that got it. So I started chatting with people around me to learn their opinion towards the skill cape, and found out some skill capes get more respect then others. Here are the tier of respect I sort out from people’s comments. The top being most respected.

The Money 99s: These skills are the ones that require a lot of money to get if, like the majority of Runescape players, people do not acquire their own resources, and if they do make their own resources, the it’s even better because they spent the time and effort to do everything by themselves.  The reason it’s the most impressive is because people would have to work pretty hard in other skills to get all the money. (such as construction, and herb lore)

The Traveling 99s: These skills require patience and a lot of running around.  They’re the next most impressive because in order to get a 99 in these skills, it usually takes a lot more time than other skills. (such as farming and runecrafting)

The Continuous Click 99s: These skills are the ones where you have to keep clicking something in order to level, whether it be a rock, monsters, bones, logs, etc.  These skills are next in the line of respect because you need to pay attention to the game in order to achieve a 99 in them. (such as the combat skills, magic, range, smithing, mining, prayer …)

The Click and Wait 99s: These skills are the ones where you click something and sit around waiting for your character’s pixels to do all the work for you.  They’re last in the respectable 99s because you still have to pay attention to the game, though not as much as the Continuous Click 99s, in case, say, your fishing spot moves, or your tree gets cut.  Plus, the resources you get from these skills do not come instantaneously, so patience is still a virtue with them. (such as fishing, hunter, and woodcutting)

The Not as respectable 99s: While getting 99s in these skills is still a nice feat, the reason I don’t really respect these skills as much is because you can “click x” your way to 99.  They are the fastest, easiest, and most common 99s to get. (such as fletching, cooking, and crafting)

Ofcourse, since I haven’t got any 99s yet. I still pay a lot of respect to all of them.

A Day in the Life
I get home from school at 5:00 p.m., excited about the prospect of playing a video game for my homework. I ask my begrudging roommate to let me use his computer for a few hours with the promise of a reconciliatory pint after to help heal his wounds caused by the brief absence from his Star Craft gaming. I click on the Second Life Icon on his screen that I had previously downloaded after I encountered certain frustrations with my own computer. My character had been left at a particularly pleasant shopping area, only about 20 feet above it. I click on the stop flying button and descend on top of the roof of the shopping building. The area is pleasantly decorated with nice trees and beach themed motif. The area has a place with a bunch of antique cars that catch my eye. I head over and check them out, however I can’t afford anything being a free member of the Second Life community. I fly around for a bit and then decide to check out the surf boards just too see what kind of things they had for sale. The surf boards were beautifully designed lots of great colours and patterns but I quickly get board of them. I can only fantasize about the fun I would have if I had the linden dollars to afford some of these things. In this way Second Life is surprisingly like my actual life.
I see another avatar standing by me looking and just for fun I check out her profile. I see that she is a member of the Friends of War Child group. I have supported the organization War Child for many years, and played a benefit show for them last year, so I immediately joined. The list of people that were a member of the Second Life War Child association was outstanding. Hundreds of people on Second Life receive monthly updates on the work that War Child Canada does around the world. I ask the avatar when she got interested in War Child and how long it had been happening on Second Life but she just teleported away. I find this is not an unusual reaction from Second Life People. I go up to another group of people because I see they are speaking using the microphones on their computers. I want to ease drop and see what they are doing, it turns out they are not having a very pg conversation so I walk away. After this little encounter I feel a need to leave the game so I exit second life, leaving my avatar with this group of strangers.

Weapons:

Combat in MHF is flexible, player do not need to build up hunter skills or skills tree, but player build up their equipments. Which means, player can select difference  weapons according to their preference.  And there are total 12 different weapons for selection. The weapon categories can divided into: Sword and Shield, Great Sword, Lance and Gun Lance, Hammer and Hunting Horn, Long Sword, Bow and Bow Gun.

Sword and Shield:

The easiest use weapon set, it offers benefits such as Light movement, an excellent balance of attack and defense and convenient item usage. But low in attack,  many swords also provide special elemental effects, giving you extra support in combat.

Great Sword:

This is the Biggest sword in game, standing taller than the hunter. The weight of the sword makes movement slow and sluggish, but it has a destructive force. The Great Sword can cut through any dragon skin in game, the unique Great Sword  skills – powerful charged slash and excellent guarding capability make this weapons one of the most powerful weapon in game.

Lance and Gun Lance

The Lance and Gun Lance are very similar weapons, the main difference is Gun Lance can fire one shot of cannon at the end o the attack combo which can stunt enemy. Both weapons have a Hugh shield with very high defense power, the lance are perfect for piercing attack.  As well as allowing you to move and attack from the guarding position.\

Hammer and Hunting Horn

Hummer and Horning Horn share the same attack combo. Hummer offers a massive attack and charge power, this is definitely the most powerful weapons in MHF. Hummer focus in high smashing attack power and forgotten the defense power.  Hunting Horn has the same attack combo but attack p0wer  are slightly lower and no charge attack. Hunting Horn is a hammer that you play tunes on to give yourself, or your party of hunters some handy status effects, such as super-speed or  extra power which make the Hunting Horn the most technical weapon in the game.

Long Sword

Long Sword is a powerful weapons with a long range pf attack. Every attack a causes spirit to flow into the blade, which can increase attack power step by step and unleashed the ultimate power in the final form. This weapon cannot use in defense, so player must evade the enemies attack.

Bow and Bow Gun

Bow offers long range attack, hunter can run and evade very easily. Bow can be insert with poison arrow, flame arrow , freeze arrow, blast arrows……etc.

Bow Gun is also long-range weapon, made up of a barrel, a frame, and a stock. Difference Bow Gun combination offers difference effect and power.

Staying longer in the server,
chatting and reading the chats,
makes me understand and learn alot more about Minecraft

Runecraft is a gameplay modification for the Survival Multi Player (SMP) that adds magic to the game in the forms of “runes”
User can add functionality and other things to their tools (Ice/Snow/Water Pick)

Also, Runecrafts allow people to make
1 / 2 way teleporters
Chrono Trigger, which allow user to control the day / night of the server

Ice/ Snow/ Water Pick , which allows user to pick up specific block
Freezer, which allow the surrounding area turns to be a snow biome

there are a lot more, but i dont even understand how do i use them…
